John Lindsay, is blessed and highly favored. Originally from Lincoln Park, Michigan, he received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Eastern Michigan University. He spent over 20 years in the entertainment industry as a singer, dancer, actor, and at the time considered writing and producing little more than a respectable hobby. Lindsay surprised everyone when he wrote his first musical in 1988 entitled The Center Ring which was produced in Toledo, OH in response to a dare. His second musical, Rumors, was designed for church youth groups. John began writing what would later become the Act of God show in 2001.
John is grateful to have been called to the writing and drama ministry. “Performing has always been an infatuation I could never fully commit to because of its temporary nature.” says Lindsay. “Writing, on the other hand, has been an aptitude worth investing in because its fruit is timeless. The stories and songs of Act of God will be enriching souls long after I’m gone which is what’s truly encouraging.”
John is always cautious when making an offering of his talent, especially through a presentation like Act of God. “Though we may appear to be singing, acting and having more fun than anyone has a right to, the truth is we’re teaching, and, as teachers, we’re held to a higher level of accountability. No one involved with Act of God takes that lightly.”
An empowering ministry like Act of God may stem from one divinely inspired idea, but the production is due to the resources of an inspired body of believers. John would like to pay tribute to an outstanding cast and crew, the Circle B Chuckwagon owned by the Horn Family (who has been a constant support to the Act of God Ministry), Terry Wayne, Producer of the #1 Hits of the 60’s, and the continued prayers of faithful supporters of Christian music and drama.
John Lindsay’s latest work includes Consider the Stars, a 300 page collection of 16 Christian skits and one act plays with corresponding Bible studies and instruction on acting from a Christian perspective. He has recently completed an original screenplay entitled Time Keeper and continues to write and illustrate children’s stories.
